TURKEY

HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT FOR MANY REASONS

We have been to Turkey and have used our experience to design trips for a number of clients

We have  good local contacts with tour operators in Istanbul, Cappodocia and across the country

ISTANBUL

One of the worlds great cities for architecture, culture, food and just experiencing immersion in the Turkish way of life in a hectic city

Sits on the Asia / Europe border with the strategic Bosphorus waterway linking the Black Sea [and Russia] to the Mediterranean

Blue Mosque, Haga Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar, Spice Bazaar are just a few of the must sees and good luck if you dont end up in a carpet factory

GALLIPOLI
A must do and very moving experience for Australians and New Zealanders in particular

A very long day trip from Istanbul or more leisurely done over 3 or 4 days and include a visit to the ruins of Troy

Anzac Cove, Lone Pine Cemetery, The Trenches..........

CAPPODOCIA

A unique "lunar" landscape of above ground and underground places

Take your time there is lots to see

Stay in a Cave Hotel, go Hot Air Ballooning, explore by foot and be amazed at how unique is the landscape [think Coober Pedy in South Australia  on steroids for those that have been there]

Get there by flights from Istanbul or better by train from different parts of Turkey

Allow Abdullah our local tour operator to design you an itinerary for a few days

RUIN YOURSELF

Take a local tour or hire a car and drive yourself around the many ancient sites in the south west around Izmir - but stay in the villages for a true sense of Turkish country life and eat Gozlemes if you can find them

  • Ephesus is a must see

  • Pammukale ruins and the thermal pools

  • Pergamum

and many, many more till you are "ruined out"

And a few more interesting snippets of info

  • there is a train from Istanbul in the west right across Turkey to the east and into Georgia [Tbilisi] and then you can train from Georgia to Armenia and Azerbaijan - the Caucasus

  • the south west coast around Bodrum and Fethiye has wonderful beaches and a mediterranean climate

  • Konya in central Turkey is the home of the Sufi culture and the original Whirling Dervishes

We have excellent long standing local contacts in Bulent based in Istanbul and Abdullah based in Cappodocia who can tailor design your Turkey experience

Make it much more than a structured group tour - immerse yourself in Turkey with PYT
